In this study, we propose a research model and hypothesis on how SMEs' technological innovation capacity affects technological performance and whether the absorbing capacity can control the influence, and to verify this, the Korea Technology Finance Corporation, a technology evaluation institution for SMEs, An empirical analysis was conducted using technology evaluation and financial information data of 5,239 directly evaluated companies. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the technological innovation capacity composed of R&D capacity, technology accumulation capacity, and technology innovation system had a positive effect on the technological performance measured by the number of patents. In particular, technology accumulation capacity, which is the level of accumulated technology resources and technology, was identified as a key factor in improving technological performance. In addition, R&D intensity, which is the ratio of R&D investment to sales among absorption capacity, has a positive (+) moderating effect that further increases the impact on technological performance by strengthening technological innovation capacity, and another absorption capacity, technology The manpower ratio (ratio of R&D manpower to the total number of workers) showed a negative (-) moderating effect that weakened the effect on technological performance. These research results show that in order to improve technological performance through there inforcement of intellectual property rights such as patent rights, which are discriminatory technologies that are difficult for competitors to imitate, it is essential to strengthen technological innovation capabilities, and that technology accumulation capabilities such as continuous technology development performance rather than R&D personnel This means that a technology innovation strategy that focuses on strengthening absorption capabilities that can create synergy with technology innovation capabilities by raising the level of R&D intensity through various R&D investments such as the introduction and transfer of external technologies is more effective.
