SK이노베이션의 협력적 노사관계 사례연구: 3층 노사관계 분석 틀(KKM 모델)을 이용하여

This paper analyzes the industrial relations of SK Innovation by using the 3-tiered framework(KKM model) and present 『A Paradigm of production-centered cooperative industrial relations』. KKM model 1) places a great importance on the strategic choice capabilities of each of the tripartite actors, and 2) approaches labor-management relations activities in three dimensions(strategic level, collective bargaining level, and workplace level). The labor-management relations atmosphere of SK Innovation was generally moderate but it deteriorated against the backdrop of restructuring during the 1998 foreign exchange crisis, and the atmosphere was generally confrontational until 2016. However, this atmosphere has dramatically changed since 2017, and as of 2023, the company has been reborn as Korea’s representative exemplary labor-management relations company while demonstrating initiatives such as 1) active participation of labor unions in win-win growth programs for partner companies, 2) inflation-linked wage increase, and 3) joint labor-management industrial accident prevention activities. The academic value of this thesis lies in the fact that it is the first attempt at home and abroad to analyze labor-management relations at the firm level by comprehensively utilizing all elements of KKM model. And in practice, we believe that this thesis can provide a framework of reference that is helpful in comprehensively diagnosing and analyzing firm-level industrial relations phenomena.
