통근이 직업만족도 및 행복에 미치는 영향 : 서울시 근로자들의 통근시간 및 통근거리를 중심으로

초록
통근은 대다수 근로자의 삶에서 유의미한 일과이며, 삶의 질과 직결되는 중요한 요인이다. 하지만 통근으로 인한 교통체증, 공해 등 거시적 관점에서 문제에 접근하는 선행연구들만 존재할 뿐, 정작 통근을 경험하는 주체인 개별 근로자의 차원에서 통근이 어떠한 영향을 미치고 있는지에 대해 살핀 국내 연구는 드문 실정이다. 따라서, 본 연구는 어떤 지역보다 심각한 통근문제를 겪고 있는 서울을 중심으로 통근이 근로자들의 직업만족도 및 행복과 어떠한 관련을 갖는지에 대해 살펴보고자 한다. 본 연구는 「2020년 서울서베이」를 이용해 서울 거주 통근근로자 26,014명을 대상으로 그들의 통근시간, 통근거리, 통근유형(자치구 간 이동 유형)이 직업만족도나 행복도와 어떠한 관련을 갖고 있는지 분석한다. 분석결과, 통근시간이 길거나 통근거리가 멀 때 직업만족도나 행복도가 낮음이 확인되었다. 또한, 통근유형에 따라 직업만족도 및 행복에 차이가 있음이 확인되었다. 본 연구는 근로자의 삶에 미치는 통근의 영향을 다각적인 측면의 분석을 통해 구체화하였다는 점에서 의의를 찾을 수 있다. 또한, 합리적이고 체감도 높은 통근 관련 정책방안 마련을 위한 참고자료가 될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.
Abstract
This paper examines the relationship between commuting time of labor and their job satisfaction. This study focus on the labors who lived in Seoul, which has a relatively more complex commuting pattern than any other region. In details, we analyze the impacts of commuting hours, distances, and types (e.g. movement in the same district, movement between regions) on job satisfaction and happiness for 26,014 labors in Seoul, using the data from Seoul Survey in 2020. As a result of the analysis, we find that the level of job satisfaction or happiness is low when either their commuting time or distance is long. The reasons why this study is meaningful are as follows. First, most labors spend a large amount of time on their commuting during their daily lives, but there is a lack of empirical analysis on this. Second, it is expected that the results of this study will be an evidence to prepare future urban planning to improve quality of life.
