CiteSpace을 통한 ESG 연구 동향의 계량서지학적 분석: Web of Science(2012-2022년) 게재 논문을 중심으로

초록
탄소 중립과 기후변화 대응 필요성이 주요 이슈로 등장하면서 기업의 ESG(Environment, Social, and Governance, ESG) 경영은 기업뿐만 아니라 사회의 지속 가능한 발전을 촉진하는 주요 요인으로 여겨지고 있어서, 전세계적으로 산업계 및 학술계의 광범위한 관심을 받고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 ESG 연구 동향을 분석하기 위해Web of Science 데이터베이스에서 2012년부터 2022년까지 문헌 주제어를 'ESG'로 검색하여 1,530편의 영문 저널논문을 연구 대상으로 분석하였다. CiteSpace6.1 R3 문헌 계량 연구 소프트웨어를 바탕으로 키워드 공통 출현 분석, 키워드 분류 분석, 돌발성 키워드 분석, 연구 저자 분석과 연구 기관 분석, 연구 주요 국가 분석을 통해 현재ESG 분야의 연구 핫 이슈, 추세 및 현안 문제를 정리하였다. 연구 결과, ESG 분야의 주요 키워드는 Corporate Social Responsibility(397), Performance(294), Impact(270)로 분석되었고, Abu dayyeh, Barham K는 9편의 논문을 발표하며 ESG 분야에서 발표 논문 수 1위 저자인 것으로 나타났다. 또한 미국, 중국, 이탈리아가 주요 연구 국가이며, 가장 영향력 있는 기관은 Univ Queensland(15), Univ Cambridge(13), Sapienza Univ Rome(13) 등으로 분석되었다. 이와 같은 결과는 ESG에 대한 학계의 연구는 끊임없이 확장되고 심화될 것이며, 기업의 영향력은 더욱 확대되고 이에 상응하여 외부의 제도적 압력도 커질 것으로 전망된다. 따라서 기업이 경쟁력 강화를 담보하기 위해서는 기업과 사회간의 상생과 협력을 통해, 지속가능한 성장이 전제되어야 한다는 것을 시사한다.
Abstract
With the emergence of carbon neutrality and the need to respond to climate change as major issues, environmental, social, and governance (ESG) management of companies is considered to be a major factor in promoting the sustainable development of not only companies but also society, and has received widespread attention from industry and academia worldwide. In order to analyze the trends of ESG research, this study analyzed 1,530 English-language journal articles by searching the Web of Science database with the keyword 'ESG' from 2012 to 2022. Based on CiteSpace6.1 R3 literature quantitative research software, keyword co-occurrence analysis, keyword classification analysis, sudden keyword analysis, research author analysis, research institution analysis, and major country analysis were used to summarise the current research hot issues, trends, and current issues in the field of ESG. As a result of the research, the main keywords in the field of ESG are Corporate Social Responsibility (397), Performance (294), and Impact (270). Abu dayyeh, Barham K is the most published author in the field of ESG with 9 articles. The United States, China, and Italy are the central research countries, and the most influential institutions are Univ Queensland (15), Univ Cambridge (13), and Sapienza Univ Rome (13). These results suggest that academic research on ESG will continue to expand and deepen, while the influence of corporations will continue to grow and external institutional pressure will increase. Therefore, it suggests that sustainable growth is a prerequisite for companies to ensure their competitiveness through coexistence and cooperation between business and society.
