증강현실 스토리텔링 콘셉트디자인 연구 - 호주 멜버른 동물원 포스터 디자인 중심으로 -

Modern tourist destinations and cultural facilities are adopting digital technologies that support various forms of interactivity to provide more engaging and captivating experiences. This paper presents research findings from an Augmented Reality (AR) storytelling concept design project conducted at Melbourne Zoo, Australia. The project involved collaboration between design students, faculty educators from M University, and Zoo staff members over the course of one semester. The research aimed to explore methods of combining AR technology with animation or motion graphic storytelling to offer Melbourne Zoo visitors a more intriguing and memorable experience. Throughout the research process, diverse design methodologies and cutting-edge AR technologies were leveraged to develop new digital content and prototypes, which were then tested within the Zoo's environment. This study revealed the potential of AR-enhanced Zoo storytelling, including the fusion of physical space with the virtual world, the expansion of educational value, the convergence of various cultures and sciences, increased emotional empathy and engagement, and the possibility of fostering new creativity and innovation. Furthermore, it is anticipated that this research will serve as foundational material for the development of tourist destination designs in the future.
