대학조교의 고용상의 문제와 개선방안

According to related laws such as the Education Act, university assistants are supposed to assist professors in their work such as education and research as a training program for university professors. In addition, when the Education Act was enacted, there was a shortage of professors, so the state came forward to grant them status as education officials for the purpose of training professors and gave preferential treatment to assistants. However, the current operation of the assistant teacher system is distorted. Currently, most assistants are not even students and often do administrative work at universities. As a result, there are many conflicts between professors and assistants, between assistants and clerical staff. The assistants are suffering from job insecurity, even though they are practically working as a occupation. This article analyzed the legal status and employment status of assistants to study these problems and find ways to improve them. In addition, we analyzed cases related to assistants at individual universities and identified problems. Furthermore, as a conclusion to these studies, this article proposes to abolish the current assistant system and operate a researcher system to foster prospective professors. In addition, we propose improvement measures in the direction of granting the status of educational officials to assistants or abolishing a system that gives preferential treatment to assistants compared to university clerical staff.
