Bibliometric Analysis of COVID-19 and Stock Markets Related Research

PURPOSE This study investigates academic literature regarding the stock market and COVID-19. METHOD By using VOSviewer and R studio's biblioshiny, we analyzed 1,564 Scopus academic articles published during the COVID-19 pandemic (2020-2022) using a bibliometric approach. RESULT First, the annual growth rate of COVID-19 and stock market literature during the sample period was 155.38%, and international co-authorship was 33.82%. Additionally, COVID-19 is linked to keywords like investor sentiment and volatility. Furthermore, some emerging terms include quantile regression, dcc-garch, safe-haven property, and hedge. CONCLUSION There is a need to investigate whether cryptocurrencies can serve as safe-haven assets in a global pandemic. Research trends related to COVID-19 and the stock market are provided in this study.
