BM(Business Method)특허에 관한 고찰

The fourth industrial revolution can be said to mean the transition to the digital communication era achieved by the convergence of ICT (Information and Communication Technology). In particular, the technological features are based on the use of big data industries, artificial intelligence and robot industries, unmanned transportation devices, and the Internet of Things. Today's businesses are in a situation where they have to adapt and develop more than ever in the midst of a huge change in the corporate environment of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. In particular, the patent field of BM (business method) technology is developing at a very fast pace amid the rapid growth of non-face-to-face industries such as high-speed data communication technology and e-commerce. Due to this phenomenon, patent offices around the world are expanding the scope of inventions to BM, and the proportion of industrial sectors such as online e-commerce based on BM patent technology is increasing day by day. The patent examination standards and case trends of each country's patent offices are also reflecting this phenomenon, and major changes are being made in the screening criteria and lawsuits for BM patent technology. In this paper, we look at domestic and American policies and examples of BM inventions and emphasize the importance of BM patents in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
