키프리스 검색DB의 활용에 관한 소고

키프리스(KIPRIS)는 특허청 산하 한국특허정보원에서 제공하고 있는 무료 산업재산권 정보검색DB로서 1996년에 상용서비스를 시작하였다. 키프리스에서 국내 특허․실용신안, 디자인, 상표, 해외특허, 해외상표, 해외디자인 및 심판정보까지 검색이 가능하다. 또한 미국, 유럽, 일본, 중국 등 25개 국가의 해외 특허정보를 검색할 수 있으며, 검색방법도 키워드 외에 문헌번호, 분류(IPC), 출원인 및 발명자 등을 통한 검색이 가능하다. 키프리스는 검색시 자동절단 기능(간단한 형태의 형태소 분석기능)을 제공한다. 예를 들어 전화기를 검색하면 유선전화기, 무선전화기, 전화기제조법 등이 모두 검색된다. 또한 키프리스에서 기계번역으로 일본특허문헌에 대한 full-text 한국어 검색이 가능하며, 유사단어를 추천해 주는 검색어확장 기능, 마이폴더를 통한 검색문헌 저장 등의 서비스를 제공하고 있다. 키프리스에는 윕스온 및 위즈도메인 등 유료 검색DB에서 제공하고 있는 절단연산자의 기능은 없다. 키프리스는 일반인 뿐아니라 대학생들에게도 그 이용율과 활용도는 매우 높다. 본 논문에서는 대학교에서 키프리스로 특허정보 검색을 지도하여 왔던 경험을 바탕으로 하여 키프리스에서 국내외 특허정보를 검색하는 방법과 그 검색결과를 선행기술조사보고서 작성, 개량발명 도출 및 특허청구범위 작성에 활용하는 방법에 관하여 기술한다.
Abstract
KIPRIS(Korea Intellectual Property Information Service), provided by KIPI(Korea Institure of Patent Information) affiliated with KIPO, is free IP information search database which started service in 1996. KIPRIS provides search service for patent, utility model, design, trademark information of Korea and major foreign countries. KIPRIS covers keyword, patent number, IPC, applicant and inventor search service for Korea and 25 foreign countries including US, Europe, Japan and China. KIPRIS provides automatic word-seperation search service. In searching a combined-word which is seperable by two words, KIPRIS seperates the words for searching. KIPRIS also offers full-text Korean language search service by machine translation for Japanese patent information and similar keyword recommending service and search document storage service. Patent keyword search with seperaion operator is not available in KIPRIS unlike paid search databases such as WIPSON and WISDOMAIN. KIPRIS is very popular search database among the public including collge students. In this these, various searching methods of KIPRIS and utilization of search results shall be described on the basis of teaching experiences at the university. Utilization of search results includes writing patent search report, patent claim writing, and improving inventions over prior art.
