Analysis of Design Major College Students' Demand for Graphic Design Curriculum Development Using Image-Generative AI

With the advent of the AI era, AI has evolved into various types, and the need for education utilizing AI is becoming increasingly prominent. Image-generative AI can be effectively applied in the field of design due to its ability to easily and quickly provide new content. However, there is currently a severe shortage of research in design education that utilizes image-generative AI. This study is a Preliminary research for developing a graphic design curriculum using image-generative AI. To analyze the educa tional demand, pre- and post-use surveys and interviews regarding image-generative AI were con ducted, with a focus on college students majoring in design. The collected data was analyzed to under stand students' perceptions and demands regarding image-generative AI. Based on the findings, dis cussion points and improvement strategies were derived, and a graphic design curriculum using im age-generative AI was proposed. This study is significant in proposing a new design education system required in the era of AI. It aims to provide essential information for utilizing image-generative AI in design and believes that it can enhance the learning of new skills and work efficiency for students.
