급진주의적 디자인과 완벽성을 거부하는 안티-디자인을 추구하였던 알렉산드로 멘디니는 스튜디오 알키미아를 통해 기능주의 디자인에 저항과 동시에 대중적인 문화와 일상적 가치에 대해 관심을 가졌으며, 이후 만들어진 알렉산드로 멘디니의 다양한 작품들은 오늘날 현대인들에게 시사하는 바가 크다. 포스트모더니즘의 역사와 함께한 알렉산드로 멘디니의 디자인은 단순한 기하도형으로 이루어져 있지만 그 안에서도 다양한 조합과 색채로 풍요로움을 나타내고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 알레산드로 멘디니 작품을 크게 가구, 건축, 소품으로 분류하고 선행연구에서 다루었던 작품을 분석함과 동시에 이들이 공통으로 내재하고 있는 조형적 특성을 분석하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 전체적으로 알레산드로 멘디니의 작품들을 분석해보면 비정형적 형태와 기하학적 형태, 화려한 색채의 사용, 비정형적 패턴에 대한 특징이 높게 나타난 것을 알 수 있었으며 비판적 시각이 접목된 작품보다는 실험적인 작품이 주를 이루었다. 이를 통해 리-디자인이 알레산드로 멘디니 작품을 대표하는 기법적 특징이긴 하나 실질적으로 지금까지 제작된 멘디니의 다양한 작품을 분석해본 결과 리-디자인에 대한 빈도수는 높지 않은 것을 확인할 수 있었다.
Abstract
Alessandro Mendini, who pursued an anti-design that rejected radical design and perfection, was interested in popular culture and everyday values while resisting functionalist design through Studio Alchymia. Alexandro Mendini's various works have great implications for modern people today. Alexandro Mendini's design with the history of postmodernism consists of a simple geometric shape, but it also shows abundance with various combinations and colors. Therefore, this study purpose to classify Alessandro Mendini's works into furniture, architecture, and props, analyze the works dealt with in previous studies, and analyze the formative characteristics they have in common. Overall, when analyzing Alessandro Mendini's works, it was found that the characteristics of the atypical and geometric forms, the use of colorful colors, and the atypical pattern were high, and experimental works were mainly used rather than works incorporating critical perspectives. Through this, although re-design is a technical feature representing Alessandro Mendini's work, it was confirmed that the frequency of re-design was not high as a result of analyzing various works of Mendini produced so far.
