기후 변화 대응 방안을 위한 문화예술의 역할:문화예술의 사회적 책임을 중심으로

Purpose: The COVID-19 pandemic has given us an opportunity to increase awareness of climate change and recognize the need for climate change response measures in the cultural field. Based on this, this study aims to provide climate change response measures by analyzing the role of culture and arts in climate change response through case studies centered on social responsibility. Methods: This study utilized literature review and case study as research methods. Through the literature study, we identified the characteristics of the role and social responsibility of cultural arts, and examined climate change response measures through international case studies. Result: As a result, we identified five implications of the role of culture and arts for climate change response. ① Culture and art can serve as an important factor for the protection of ecosystems and biodiversity. ② Culture and art can be an important medium for raising awareness of climate issues. ③ Activist cultural education can be used as an effective way to raise awareness of climate change issues. ④ When faced with social issues, arts and culture can help solve problems visually and audibly. ⑤ Culture and the arts can be seen to strengthen social responsibility through cooperation and networking. Based on the above, we have suggested ways to respond to climate change. Conclusion: First, public participation in climate action should be a priority. Second, interdisciplinary integration and collaboration, a hybrid approach, is an important key to problem-solving for climate change responses in the cultural sector. Third, sustainable collaborative networks can enhance climate change responses in the arts. The study concludes that climate change adaptation in the arts is necessary and that the role of the arts as a social responsibility is a significant one.
