The Moderating Role of Ethical Leadership on Relationship between Social Capital and Relationship Continuity Intention in Food Service Franchising System

초록

This study aims to investigate the moderating effects of ethical leadership on the relationship between social capital(tie strength, trust) and relationship continuity intention. This study uses a sample of 273 franchisees from food service franchising system. This study employs hierarchical regression analysis and and the PROCESS tool to analyze data. This study shows two main findings. First, we confirm that tie strength has a positive significant effect on relationship continuity intention. Likewise, trust has a positive effect on relationship continuity intention. Second, the results demonstrate that ethical leadership has a significant positive moderating effect on the impact of tie strength on relationship continuity intention(enhancing effect) and a significant negative moderating effect on the impact of trust on relationship continuity intention (interference effect). Finally, this study suggests academic implications and practical implications for the foodservice franchising system. In order to improve relationship continuityintention in the food service franchising system, this study suggests that it is necessary to include the need for the establishment and management of social capital and the moderating role of ethical leadership together theoretically or practically.
