창조적 브리꼴레르(bricoleur)에 의한 기독교 정체성 세우기 ‐ 세르토(M. Certeau)와 테너(K. Tanner)를 중심으로

It can be said that establishing the Christian identity of today’s church community is a contemporary and cultural task. Under the influence of postmodernism, consumer culture, and various secular cultures, Christians and churches are under threat of losing their Christian identity. They are unable to fully practice the spirit of love for God and love for neighbors that Christians should have, and because of this, they are unable to embody the way of life required of the church community, and are unable to reach a point of cultural change that puts the values of God’s kingdom into practice in all areas of life. In the context of this identity crisis, this paper aims to focus on the method of Christian identity formation attempted by M. D. Certeau and K. Tanner. Certeau is interested in securing the cultural identity of the underprivileged, and argues for the possibility of securing their cultural identity through the concepts of tactics, use, and appropriation under the premise of creating everyday life. Through this, it was seen that the social practice of Christian’s identity was possible. In a similar context, K. Tanner argues that the church’s identity is linked to social conditions and has constructed a Christian identity as parasitic, hybrid, and style. It defines the methods of Certeau and Tanner as establishing a Christian identity through creative bricolère, thereby overcoming the romanticism that such methods may have, and providing the transformative outlook and narrative of the kingdom of God to believers on an ongoing basis. This paper argues that if the ‘space’, which is a strategic asset that is provided and occupied by the church community, can be utilized, such a method can be a meaningful way for today’s church community to form a Christian identity.
