제조업의 ESG 강화를 위한 ESG 기반 친환경 산업디자인 툴킷 제안

ESG has become a paradigm for corporate management, but no real and fundamental changes have yet occurred. In order to fundamentally improve products, services, and overall systems for sustainable management of companies, industrial design approaches that incorporate ESG values are needed. Accordingly, the aim of this study was to propose an eco-friendly industrial design toolkit incorporating ESG evaluation indicators as a way to strengthen the competitiveness of the manufacturing industry. First, we looked at the manufacturing industry’s ESG evaluation system and ESG evaluation indicators for each manufacturing process, and investigated prior research on eco-friendly design strategies and design toolkits. Based on literature reviews, we developed an ESG-based eco-friendly industrial design toolkit and verified the user experience of the toolkit with 15 industrial designers. The ESG-based eco-friendly industrial design toolkit presented in this study consists of three stages: ESG environmental status analysis, idea generation using 8R of eco-friendly design strategies, and idea evaluation. First, we identify the company’s ESG status and industrial design issues, derive ideas for the issues using eight eco-friendly strategies, and then determine priorities based on customer value and feasibility. The ESG-based eco-friendly industrial design toolkit proposed in this study helps generate various ideas in accordance with specific ESG evaluation indicators. The significance of this study is that it proposed and verified an eco-friendly industrial design toolkit that can be used by companies based on ESG evaluation indicators. We hope that products incorporating ESG values can be developed more actively through the various ESG toolkits.
