Association between Employment Status Change during Covid-19 and Mental Health

초록

This study aimed to analyze the association between employment status change during Covid-19 pandemic andmental health in Koreans aged 19 years or older. The cross-sectional study of the Korea Community Health Survey (KCHS) was conducted on 172,747 individualsaged 19 years or older excluding missing value, Weighted chi-square, Weighed logistic regression were used to identify the association between employment status change and mental health. ‘Worse than before’ group had higher odds of Perceived Stress or Incidence of Depression than the ‘Better than before’ (AOR:1.159, 95 % CI: 1.06–1.27, AOR:1.433, 95 % CI: 1.13–1.81) respectively. after subgroup analysis by sex and age, Male and female group had a strong association between employment status change and pereived stress,but in terms of incidence of Depression, there were no association between employment status change and depression for female group. also, among under 64 years group, there were strong association between employment status change and mental health. but there were no association for over 65 years. The results of this study showed that the negative change of the status group had a higher rate of stress and depression than positive change of the status . Particularly, a strong association was observed in the male group and under 64 years group. Therefore, even if negative change of the stauts occurs, deterioration of mental health can be prevented by providing for mental health recovery policy.
