In 1995, Hong Se-hwa’s I’m a Taxi Driver in Paris was published in Korea. Korean society relativized some of its culture through Hong Se-hwa and France and learned the spirit of Tolerance. In addition, Hong Se-hwa’s epic of self to self-defense made Korean society realize the tragic modern history of Korea compressedly. At the same time, Koreans see the birth and emergence of new progressive intellectuals along with the best-selling book.
