This study was conducted to examine the impact of the strength of intellectual property rights (IPR) protection on technological advancement. The prime goal of this paper is to empirically analyze the significance of IPR protection on technological progress within the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and to indirectly reveal that the degree of IPR protection can influence a nation's economic growth. To achieve the goal of my study, I utilized an endogenous growth theory model to demonstrate that variables related to intellectual property and the strength of IPR protection affect technological advancement. Additionally, a multiple regression equation was used, based on the derived formula to conduct the analysis. During this process, further analysis was performed by including the status of being an advanced country and OECD membership as control variables to account for national differences. The results indicated that the strength of IPR protection significantly influences technological progress and that OECD membership also affects technological advancement. This study is significant in that, unlike previous research, it analyzes the impact of IPR protection on technological advancement, which can be a factor in economic growth. It concludes that IPR protection not only influences technological progress but can also indirectly affect economic growth.
