동물복지를 고려한 친환경 수산물 인증의 무역 장벽화 대응 연구

This study investigates strategies to mitigate trade barriers associated with Eco-friendly seafood certification, with a particular emphasis on animal welfare. As consumer interest in environmental and animal welfare issues continues to grow, the demand for Eco-friendly seafood has also increased. This trend has led to the emergence of certification as a critical but potentially non-tariff barrier in the seafood market. Eco-friendly seafood certification emphasizes environmental protection and resource management, increasingly incorporating animal welfare considerations, particularly in aquaculture. While such certification enhances consumer value, it may also pose challenges to international trade. The study examines the theoretical foundations and previous research on non-tariff barriers, Eco-friendly certification, and animal welfare standards. It compares Korean standards with those of international counterparts, highlighting significant trade impediments caused by non-tariff barriers. The findings underscore the need for policy interventions to address these barriers. The European Union's stringent animal welfare standards, for instance, can be perceived as non-tariff barriers by other nations. To reduce trade barriers and promote sustainable fisheries, the study recommends that Korea align its fish welfare standards with international norms. This alignment necessitates close collaboration between the government and industry in policy formulation and the dissemination of information regarding Eco-friendly certification and animal welfare standards.
