감정노동 연구의 비판적 문헌고찰 – 국내 연구를 중심으로 -

초록
감정노동에 대한 국내 연구는 어느덧 30여 년이 지나가고 있다. 결코 짧지 않은 연구 흐름 속에서 감정노동에 관한 국내 연구들의 업적들은 양적인 면에서는 괄목한 만한 성장을 이루었으나 아쉽게도 질적인 성장 면에서는 채 걸음마 수준에 멈춰 있는 실정이다. 이는 감정노동 개념에 대한 본질적인 접근 없이 해외의, 특히 미국 선행연구들의 이론만을 답습하는 패턴들이 반복적으로 이루어졌기 때문이라고 유추해 볼 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 국내 감정노동에 대한 문헌고찰을 통해 감정노동 연구의 체계화를 위한 이론적 논의를 목적으로 한다. 이러한 연구목적을 달성하기 위해 본 연구는 시기별 연도 및 편수 비중 중심의 ‘일반적 관점’과 Reicher & Schneider(1990)의 ‘three-stage model for the evolution of constructs’라는 2가지 프레임 워크를 활용하여 감정노동 연구가 경영학 분야에서 어떻게 진행되어 왔는지에 대한 전반적인 흐름 파악과 동시에 현재의 특징과 문제점을 일목요연하게 정리한다. 마지막 결론에서는 조속한 감정노동 연구의 후속작업 필요성을 강조한다.
Abstract
Research on emotional labor in Korea has now spanned over 30 years. While the quantitative growth of domestic studies on emotional labor has been remarkable within this long research trend, unfortunately, the qualitative growth remains at a rudimentary level. This stagnation can be inferred to be due to repetitive patterns of merely following the theories of overseas studies, especially those from the United States, without fundamentally approaching the concept of emotional labor. Therefore, this study aims to discuss the theoretical systematization of emotional labor research through a literature review of domestic studies on the subject. To achieve this research objective, this study uses two frameworks: the 'general perspective,' which focuses on the proportion of studies by year and volume, and Reicher & Schneider's (1990) 'three-stage model for the evolution of constructs.' By utilizing these frameworks, the study aims to comprehensively understand how emotional labor research has progressed in the field of business administration, clearly summarize its current characteristics and issues, and finally emphasize the necessity for prompt follow-up studies on emotional labor.
