Purpose This study analyzes public petitions about the real estate brokerage commission system to identify public dissatisfaction and demands, and proposes improvement measures. Based on this analysis, the study seeks to propose improvement measures for the real estate brokerage commission system. Methods This study quantifies the public petition data and applied centrality analysis, one of the text network analysis, and topic modeling, to analyze the content and assess public opinion trends. Results The centrality analysis shows that words like 'real estate brokerage commission,' 'real estate,' 'certified realtor,' 'price,' 'transaction,' 'apartment,' 'sale,' and 'house prices' have high centrality values. The words 'nation,' 'government,' and 'adjustment' have high betweenness centrality specifically. Topic modeling identifisd five main topics in the public petitions related to real estate brokerage commissions. Conclusion There is a need to reform the real estate brokerage commission system to align it with home prices, adjust commission rates, and make the system more practical by enabling negotiation between realtors and buyers/sellers.
