北韓語 色彩 派生語의 派生 樣相과 意味 分析 – 조선말대사전(2017)의 色彩語를 對象으로–

This study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of how Korean users perceive and express colors by analyzing the derivational patterns and semantic features of color derivatives in North Korean native words. As a follow-up to Choi Yoon (2022), this paper examines the derivational patterns and semantic properties of affixes in North Korean color terms, based on an analysis of color terms listed in the “Joseonmaldaesajeon.” The findings reveal differences in the number and types of affixes attached to different color terms, demonstrating varying derivational patterns across color categories. In addition, the number of derivatives for each color affix was examined to assess the productivity of each affix. Lastly, the semantic features of color derivational affixes were analyzed based on the dictionary definitions in the “Joseonmaldaesajeon,” focusing on evaluative attitudes ([positive], [negative]) and color properties ([brightness], [saturation], [homogeneity]). This study enhances the understanding of the structural patterns and meanings of native color derivatives in both North and South Korean, and provides a more comprehensive view of the derivational patterns and semantic features of Korean color terms. Expanding this series of studies on North and South Korean color terms to compare the usage patterns of color terms in both regions is expected to shed new light on the structural characteristics of Korean color derivation, the process of semantic expansion, and the perception of color in Korean.
