As Chinese society has transitioned from an agricultural to an industrialized economy, the kitchen, a central space in the home, has undergone profound transformations. “communal kitchens” and “corridor kitchens” to the modern "cabinetized” model, the kitchen has evolved into a space that not only serves daily dietary needs but also carries rich cultural and spiritual significance. However, in following international trends, modern kitchen design often overlooks Chinese local culture and user needs, making it difficult to accommodate the cooking habits and dietary cultural characteristics families.This challenge is particularly evident in the context of accelerated urbanization, the prevalence of smaller family structures, and the widespread adoption of fast-paced lifestyles. Modern kitchens face numerous challenges in terms of functional layout and space utilization. Therefore, this study aims to explore how China's unique dietary culture influences modern kitchen design. By analyzing users' dietary behaviors and cultural characteristics, the research seeks to propose kitchen design directions that align with the Chinese cultural background, ultimately providing modern Chinese families with kitchen spaces that are both practical and culturally resonant.
