Analysis of Technological Competitiveness and Competitive Structure of Autonomous Vehicle Emergency Response Systems using Patent Information

초록

Purpose The purpose of this study is to reconsider how to strengthen the competitiveness of Korean companies by conducting a quantitative empirical analysis of the technological competitiveness and competitive structure in the U.S. market for autonomous vechicle emergency action system using patent information. Methods The research methodology is technology level analysis by utilizing the patent database of the US Patent and Trademark Office, technology competitiveness analysis through marketability analysis, and competitive structure analysis through the technology-patent family stock index matrix. Results The results of this study is TOYOTA has the highest technological competitiveness, followed by WAYMO, FORD, GM, and HYUNDAI, and LG has the lowest. In the competitive structure, Toyota, Waymo, Ford, and AMAZON are located in the technology/market advanced group, HYUNDAI is in the market leader group and LG is in the technology/market followed group. Conclusion The findings of this study is significant in rethinking our technological capabilities by suggesting ways to improve the quality of technology and strengthen and protect pre-empted patent rights to strengthen our technological competitiveness.
