A midst the intensifying global environmental issues and the rapid growth of urbanization, people are increasingly focusing on sustainability, leading to the establishment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) worldwide. accordingly， Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) management has emerged and evolved, offering a new perspective on urban sustainability. This dissertation explores the concept of urban ESG governance. By comparatively analyzing the ESG practices in Toronto and Tokyo, it provides valuable references in urban ESG theory and practice to aid future cities in achieving better sustainable development.
