초록
The five-year survival rate of Korean startups ranks among the lowest in OECD countries, underscoring the critical importance of corporate performance for the sustainability and growth of these enterprises. This study empirically investigates the impact of internal capabilities and external support on the performance of technology startups. The internal capability factors examined include agile leadership and learning agility, while external support encompasses startup funding, mentoring, marketing, infra structure, and educational resources. Additionally, the study explores how these factors differentially affect corporate performance between startups in their initial and advanced stages of development. Data were collected through an online survey targeting executives (CEO, CTO, CFO, CMO, etc.) of technology startups, and the analysis was conducted using structural equation modeling (SEM) with AMOS 24 on a sample of 288 valid responses. The results reveal that agile leadership, learning agility, startup funding, mentoring, marketing, infrastructure, and educational support all exert a significant positive influence on the performance of technology startups, with infrastructure support emerging as the most impactful factor. Specifically, for startups in the initial stage, learning agility, funding, and marketing support were key determinants of corporate performance, whereas agile leadership played a more crucial role in advanced-stage startups. Notably, infrastructure and educational support were found to be significant across all stages of startup development. This study makes a valuable academic contribution by elucidating the differential impacts of internal capabilities and external support on startup performance at various growth stages. On a practical level, it provides strategic insights aimed at enhancing the performance of technology startups, offering particular relevance to addressing the low survival rates of Korean startups.
