사회문제 해결을 위한 디자인연구 동향 분석 -서울시 사회문제해결디자인 사업을 중심으로-

(Background and Purpose) Demand for solutions is increasing as social problems have recently occurred in various fields such as life safety, environment, and social integration. In 2018, the Seoul Metropolitan Government enacted the "Social Problem Solving Design Ordinance" for the first time in Korea. Article 2, No. 1 of the above ordinance defines social problem-solving design as a design process and activity that identifies citizens' needs for various social problems and presents an efficient solution through design in cooperation with citizens. At the present time when design is used as a means and process in solving social problems, design research trends for solving social problems are analyzed. Its purpose is to grasp what aspects and academic purposes are through analysis, and to lay the foundation for suggesting future research directions. (Method) In order to analyze the trend of "Design Research for Social Problem Solving" targeting domestic academic papers, first, the concept and type of social problem solving design are identified through theoretical consideration. Second, among domestic academic papers from 2012 to 2024, previous research data including the type of social problem solving design project as a keyword in the subject word or abstract are collected for candidates for KCI (excellent) registration or registration. For data collection, the domestic literature search database Academic Research Information Service (RISS) is used. Third, text mining analysis is conducted by refining the collected data for empirical analysis. For the collected data, word frequency analysis, TF-IDF analysis, N-gram analysis, and CONCOR analysis are performed through a Textom program. (Results) As a result of analyzing 106 data finally collected as research subjects by text mining, word frequency analysis shows that research related to social problems using design as a medium is actively being conducted. In the TF-IDF analysis, it is interpreted that it is urgent to solve related social problems as a number of keywords related to demographic change are mentioned. N-gram analysis mentions the context formed by social problem solving and public design, and CONCOR analysis mentions the coexistence of physical and non-physical design. (Conclusions) The conclusion of this study is as follows. First, it should be recognized that various problems may arise in accordance with the ever-changing social trends of social problems. Therefore, it is necessary to expand research on factors that may be socially problematic so that preemptive response is possible. Second, it is necessary to promote complementary research so that non-physical design supplements the limitations of existing physical design and non-physical design can be realized through physical design as design types for solving social problems are diversified. Third, social problems constantly change in shape and nature. Therefore, research on solutions and countermeasures that can flexibly cope with fluid situations is needed.
