초록

This study examines the enhancement effects of information and communication technology on the association between exports and economic growth in Bangladesh, employing autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model with the export-led growth hypothesis and data from 1992 to 2022. The empirical findings demonstrated a significant positive association between exports and economic progress in short and the long run. While ICT by itself is negatively associated with economic growth, the interaction between ICT and exports demonstrates a substantial positive effect on economic growth, both in the short- and long-term. In addition, the labor force is positively associated with economic expansion in the long run, while capital input is positively associated with the growth of economy only in the short run. Therefore, our findings illustrate that in order to attain the economic growth in Bangladesh, policymakers should focus on long-run policies to enhance the export of goods and services. In addition, the government should promote ICT initiatives specifically targeted at improving export activities in the country. This could include incentives for technology adoption and digital infrastructure development in the exports industries.
