The Effect of Perceived Risk Type on Negative Emotions and Coping Behaviors in Personal Information Leakage: Text Mining Approach

The primary purpose of the study is to investigate the influence of risk types on negative emotions and coping behaviors in an event of personal information leakage by applying text mining approach when the personal information leakage occurring. In addition, the study examines the meditating role of negative emotions between risk types and coping behaviors. This study employed a text mining approach to analyze individuals' negative emotions and coping behaviors in response to personal information leakage incidents. Specifically, the research utilized frequency analysis on a dataset of 63,038 tweets and conducted logistic regression analysis on a refined subset of 12,474 tweets after comprehensive preprocessing. Through these methodologies, the study provides insights into the emotional responses and adaptive behaviors exhibited by individuals in the aftermath of data breaches. This study found that the type of risk has a positive impact on negative emotions. Additionally, while negative emotions positively influence private actions, they do not have any significant effect on public actions. The mediation effect of negative emotions was also observed only in the context of private actions.
