병원급 의료기관 간호사의 혈액 및 체액 노출 사고 실태조사

This study is a descriptive research study that blood and body fluid exposure accidents among nurses in hospitals and provide basic data for the prevention and efficient reduction of blood and body fluid exposure accidents. The participants were nurses with more than 6 months of clinical experience in Gwangju and Jeonnam. The data were collected online from November 2, 2023, to April 26, 2024, and the survey was conducted twice at a six-month interval. The collected data were analyzed using the IBM SPSS 27.0 statistical program, and the general characteristics and job characteristics of nurses in hospitals as well as research variables, were analyzed using frequencies and percentages. As a result of the study, the proportion of nurses in hospitals who experienced blood and body fluid exposure in the past year was 48.7%, and the average exposure frequency of those who experienced it was 3.39 times/year. A total of 46.6% of the participants experienced blood and body fluid exposure more than three times, with 54.7% experiencing spattering of blood and body fluids on the skin. In the future, education to prevent skin splash accidents related to blood and body fluids exposure will need to be systematically operated. As a result of this study, there is a need to raise awareness of infection control among nurses in hospitals, develop educational programs for practical infection control, including causes and prevention methods of blood and body fluid exposure accidents, and conduct continuous education.
