한국과 중국 합작 리메이크 영화 연구: <블라인드>와 <나는 증인이다>를 중심으로

This paper aims to understand the production and storytelling strategies of Korean-Chinese joint remakes by comparing and analyzing Korean-Chinese remakes, especially Korean films Blind and Chinese remakes I am a Witness. The Korea-China co-produced remake is the result of the cooperation between the two countries’ film industries, and it has the characteristic of preserving the main elements of the original work while reflecting the social and cultural differences of each country. After diplomatic relations in 1992, Korea and China became active in economic and cultural exchanges, opening a forum for cooperation in the film industry. In particular, joint films have developed further by combining Korean film production technology and Chinese capital. This paper examines the development process and type of Korean-Chinese joint films and analyzes the localization strategy of Korean-Chinese joint remake films through the cases of Blind and I am a Witness. These films were a great commercial success by successfully applying a localization strategy that reflected China’s political and social characteristics while preserving the directing characteristics of the original. In particular, I would like to examine the need for an in-depth understanding of Korean-Chinese film exchange and localization strategies in that the remake was more successful in China than the original. In addition, this article discusses the problems caused by China’s strict censorship system and cultural differences, which are the main restrictions of the Korea-China film joint venture. It examines the impact of censorship and regulation on joint film production according to China’s social characteristics, and discusses the impact of these restrictions on joint remake films between Korea and China.
