부산지역 AI 산업 생태계 조성을 위한 논문 및 특허 기반 기술 마이닝

챗GPT 등장과 함께 대규모 언어모델, 생성형 AI 등 AI 기술이 급속도로 발전함에 따라 전 세계적으로 AI 산업이 급성장하고 있으며, 전 사회에 걸친 영향력도 크게 확대하고 있다. 우리 정부는 ‘AI-반도체 이니셔티브’ 등 적극적인 AI 육성 정책을 펼치고 있지만, 지역 차원에서는 AI 기술 현황이나 기술수준에 대해 면밀한 검토가 미흡한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 국내 지역 차원에서 부산의 AI 기술 현황 및 기술 수준을 파악하기 위해 2012년∼2021년간의 AI 관련 논문·특허 데이터를 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 부산의 종합적인 AI 기술 수준은 최고 기술 역량을 보유한 서울 대비 35.4% 수준으로 나타났다. 부산의 AI 기술 연구개발 활동성은 다소 낮으나, 질적으로는 우수한 논문과 특허를 일부 보유하며 향후 AI 기술력 확보를 위한 가능성은 보였다. 부산이 AI 기술 발전과 산업 생태계 조성을 위해서는 R&D 투자 확대, 정책 지원 강화, 항만, 영화, 영상 등 지역·산업적 특성을 반영한 AI 산업육성이 중요하다.
Abstract
With the emergence of ChatGPT and the rapid development of AI technologies such as large language models and generative AI, the AI industry is growing rapidly around the world and its influence is expanding throughout society. Although the Korean government is carrying out active AI development policies such as the ‘AI-Semiconductor Initiative’, there is insufficient thorough review of the current status or technological capabilities of AI technology at the local level. Accordingly, this study analyzed AI-related papers and patent data from 2012 to 2021 to understand the current status and technology level of AI technology in Busan at the domestic regional level. As a result of the analysis, Busan's comprehensive AI technology level was found to be 35.4% of Seoul, which has the highest technological capabilities. Busan's AI technology R&D activity is somewhat low, but it holds some qualitatively excellent papers and patents, showing the potential to secure AI technology in the future. In order for Busan to develop AI technology and create an industrial ecosystem, it is important to expand R&D investment and strengthen policy support, as well as foster AI industries that reflect regional industrial characteristics such as ports, movies, and video.
