최근 기후 변화에 대응하기 위한 환경 혁신의 중요성이 크게 부각되고 있다. 소비자의 친환경 제품에 대한 선호도 증가와 정부의 규제 강화는 기업들에게 환경편익을 고려한 혁신을 추진해야 하는 압력을 가중시키고 있다. 본 연구는 기후 변화 요인과 기술 및 인력지원이 환경편익이 있는 혁신(Innovation with Environmental Benefits)'에 미치는 영향을 '2022년 한국기업혁신조사(KIS 2022)'데이터를 활용하여 실증 분석하였다. 혁신에 미치는 동기를 수요견인론(Demand Pull)과 기술투입론 (Technology-Push) 관점으로 구분하고, 환경편익이 있는 혁신을 에너지 절감(이산화탄소 배출량 감소), 대기·수질·토양·소음공해 감소, 상품 재활용 촉진, 상품 내구성 강화의 네 가지로 세분화하여 로지스틱 회귀분석을 통해 각 요인에 대한 영향을 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 수요견인론 관점의 기후 변화 요소와 기술투입론의 인력 및 기술 지원이 환경편익이 있는 혁신에 모두 유의미한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 환경편익이 있는 혁신을 촉진 하는 동기 요인을 분석했다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 특히 기업의 지속 가능한 발전을 위한 핵심 전략이 중요해 지는 이러한 시점에서 어떤 요인들이 환경적 영향을 미치는지 실증 데이터를 통해 분석했다는 점에서 의의가 있을 수 있다.
Abstract
The significance of environmental innovation in combating climate change has gained considerable traction in recent years. The growing consumer preference for eco-friendly products and the imposition of government regulations are exerting pressure on companies to innovate with environmental benefits. This study employs an empirical approach to examine the impact of climate change factors, technology, and manpower support on innovation with environmental benefits, utilising data from the Korean Enterprise Innovation Survey 2022 (KIS 2022). The motivation for innovation was categorized according to the demand-pull and technology-push perspectives, and innovation with environmental benefits was subdivided into four categories: energy saving (reducing carbon dioxide emissions), reducing air, water, soil, and noise pollution, promoting product recycling, and enhancing product durability. The impact of each factor was analyzed through logistic regression analysis. The results of the analysis demonstrated that climate change factors from the demand driver theory and human and technical support from the technology input theory both exert a significant positive influence on innovation with environmental benefits. This is a noteworthy finding, as it elucidates the motivational factors that drive innovation with environmental benefits. In particular, it is crucial to examine which factors have an environmental impact through empirical data at this juncture, when sustainable development is becoming a pivotal strategy for companies.
