초록
This study aimed to empirically investigate how image-making self-efficacy impacts the enhancement of self-esteem in middle-aged women by conducting an analysis targeting women aged 40 and above. The survey was carried out over a one-month period from June to July 2024, with 415 responses included in the final analysis. The results are presented as follows. First, image-making self-efficacy was identified as encompassing five components: interpersonal relationships, self-expression, posture and attitude, body image, and confidence. Second, self-esteem was identified as encompassing three components: self-respect, respect for others, and a positive attitude. Third, in examining the impact of image-making self-efficacy on self-esteem, the self-efficacy related to interpersonal relationships and posture and attitude showed a significant impact on all subfactors of self-esteem. Additionally, confidence and body image were found to exert a partial impact. Women in middle age often undergo psychological challenges, such as coping with physical aging and feelings of emptiness related to their social roles. Based on the results, efforts to enhance image-making self-efficacy are expected not only to help overcome feelings of inferiority and build confidence but also to foster positive thinking that improves interpersonal relationships, ultimately resulting in higher self-esteem.
