스타트업 경영성과를 위한 지식재산 기반 창업프로그램(IE²P)의 효과성 연구

초록
창업은 급격한 기술혁신과 디지털 전환 등 혁신적 산업구조 변화와 인구구조 감소 등 사회 환경 속에서 혁신과 양질의 고용 확대에 주요 동력원으로 작용할 뿐만 아니라, 그 중요성이 날로 증가하고 있다. 이 연구는 기존 문헌들이 스타트업의 특허권 등 지식재산권 확보와 활용에 관한 교육프로그램의 일반적인 효과 연구에 주목했던 것을 구체적으로 지식재산 기반 창업프로그램의 참여 여부에 따라 스타트업의 경영성과에 유의한 차이가 있는지에 대한 효과성 연구에 초점을 두었다. 연구 결과는 지식재산 기반 창업프로그램의 참여 여부에 따라 스타트업의 경영성과 중에서 총자산 및 매출액, 투하자본이익률(ROIC) 항목에서 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 분석되었으며, 자본증가율, 매출액증가율, 영업이익률, 순이익률과 같은 재무성과에서는 IP 기반 창업프로그램 참여 여부에 따라 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 하지만 자산증가율과 매출액증가율에서 IP 기반 창업프로그램 참여 기업이 비참여 기업에 비해 훨씬 높은 증가율을 보여 기업의 성장에 긍정적 영향을 미칠 수 있는 것을 확인하였다. 제언으로서 지식재산 기반 창업프로그램과 스타트업 성공에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 다른 요소를 조사해야 하는 필요성이 대두되며 이러한 접근은 스타트업이 지식재산권 경영 전략에 통합하여 지속 가능한 성장을 도모하는데 중요한 기반이 될 것이다.
Abstract
Startups are increasingly recognized as key drivers of innovation and quality employment in an era of rapid technological change and digital transformation. This study evaluates the effectiveness of intellectual property (IP)-based startup programs, examining differences in managerial performance between participating and non-participating startups. Results indicate that participation in IP-based startup programs leads to statistically significant differences in total assets, sales revenue, and Return on Invested Capital (ROIC). However, no significant differences were found in financial performance indicators such as capital increase rate, sales growth rate, operating profit margin, and net profit margin. Despite this, participating companies showed much higher growth rates in asset increase and sales growth compared to non-participating companies, suggesting a positive impact on company growth. The study recommends further investigation into other factors that positively influence startup success in conjunction with IP-based programs. This approach will provide a crucial foundation for startups to integrate intellectual property management strategies and promote sustainable growth. Future research should focus on identifying and analyzing these additional factors to develop more comprehensive support strategies for startup success in the context of IP management.
