본 연구는 지식 중심 법교육의 효과성을 실증적으로 검증하기 위해 법교육 수업 유형이 중학생의 법의식에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 연구는 지식 중심 법교육, 참여 중심 법교육(교사개입형, 교사방임형)을 적용하여 법의식의 인지적, 정서적, 행동적 요소 및 수업 만족도를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 지식 중심 법교육 수업은 인지적 법의식(법지식 성취도)에서 가장 높은 효과를 보였다. 법의식의 정서적, 행동적 영역에서는 대체로 지식 중심 법교육 수업과 참여 중심 법교육 수업 간 유의미한 차이가 확인되진 않았다. 다만 행동적 법의식의 법효능감에서는 지식 중심 법교육 수업이 가장 큰 효과가 있었다. 성적과 수업 유형의 상호작용 효과를 분석한 결과, 지식 중심 수업이 상위권 학생들의 성취도 향상과 하위권 학생들의 법효능감 함양에 가장 효과적인 것으로 드러났다. 수업 유형별 만족도 분석 결과, 다수 항목에서 지식 중심 법교육 수업의 만족도가 가장 큰 것으로 나타났으나, 유의미한 차이는 아니었다. 본 연구는 지식 중심 법교육의 의의를 재조명하며, 효과적인 법교육 수업 설계를 위한 시사점을 제공한다.
Abstract
This study explores the impact of different teaching methods in law-related education on middle school students’ legal consciousness and empirically examines the effectiveness of knowledge-based law-related education. By applying lecture-based, teacher-guided activity-based, and teacher-facilitated activity-based lessons, the study analyzed the cognitive, affective, and behavioral components of legal consciousness as well as class satisfaction. The findings revealed that lecture-based instruction demonstrated the highest effectiveness in improving cognitive legal consciousness (legal knowledge achievement), while teacher-guided activity-based instruction was relatively more effective in enhancing affective and behavioral legal consciousness (legal efficacy and intent to use the law). Additionally, the effectiveness of teaching methods varied depending on students’ academic performance in social studies: high-achieving students benefited more from lecture-based lessons, whereas lower-achieving students showed better outcomes with teacher-guided activity-based lessons. This study highlights the significance of knowledge-based law-related education and provides insights for designing effective law-related education programs.
