This study investigated the characteristics of start-ups in the shipbuilding field and the direction needed for entrepreneurship education through in-depth interviews with entrepreneurs in the shipbuilding field. Startups in the shipbuilding industry aim to improve safety, productivity, and eco-friendliness. Some companies are using ICT technology and 3D printing to improve productivity, and in terms of safety, crane collision prevention systems are being developed. Motivation for starting a business is mainly based on personal desires and industry experience. To succeed in starting a business in the shipbuilding field, entrepreneurs must consider value, aptitude, expertise, and marketing. However, the shipbuilding field is highly culturally closed, making it difficult to form and enter networks. This closedness also causes difficulties in recruiting talent. These cultural constraints make development in the shipbuilding field difficult. Entrepreneurship education in the shipbuilding field is conducted as a process of identifying and improving problems in the industry. To this end, crane safety, wage levels in the welding process, energy facilities and environmental issues are taken into consideration. Solve problems through the development of technologies such as safety systems, welding robots, and battery storage systems, and promote the development of environmentally friendly technologies. The government's support programs and education for start-ups in the shipbuilding sector aim to recognize problems in the shipbuilding industry and improve understanding of the international market, and there is a need to support the growth of entrepreneurs by providing realistic experience and practical knowledge.
