IMO 온실가스 감축 정책에 따른 해운산업의 ESG 경영 전략에 관한 동향 분석: LDA 토픽모델링 분석을 중심으로

The IMO's greenhouse gas(GHG) reduction policies present new challenges for ESG management in the shipping industry. This study analyzes the trends in ESG management strategies of shipping companies under the IMO’s carbon neutrality strategy and explores pathways for sustainable development. To achieve this, 67 KCI-indexed papers published between January 2020 and October 2024 were analyzed using text mining and LDA topic modeling. The analysis identified four key topics: "Strengthening Environmental Regulations," "Enhancing the Quality of Ship Fuel and CCUS," "Transition to Eco-Friendly Ships and Ship Financing," and "ESG Disclosure and Evaluation." The IMO's strengthened environmental regulations play a crucial role in helping shipping companies adopt green technologies and reduce carbon emissions, thereby securing global competitiveness. Specifically, the development of eco-friendly fuels, adoption of smart ship technologies, and the implementation of carbon capture, utilization, and storage have emerged as key priorities for a sustainable shipping industry. Furthermore, the increasing importance of ship financing has led to enhanced support from governments and financial institutions, accelerating the transition to eco-friendly ships. This study systematically examines research trends in ESG management and GHG reduction strategies, providing insights into the sustainable development of the shipping industry and addressing global maritime environmental challenges. Future research should include a broader analysis of domestic and international data and specific case studies of shipping companies to develop practical strategies for enhancing the sustainability of the shipping industry.
