23권 1호, 145~163쪽

초록

This study aims to develop ESG education within the field of physical education, focusing on university curricula. It specifically addresses three research questions: First, is ESG education necessary in the field of physical education? Second, how should sports ESG course content be structured? Third, what are the development strategies for sports ESG education in universities? The research methods included conducting in-depth interviews with five ESG experts to derive development strategies for sports ESG education at universities. These interviews emphasized the urgency of integrating ESG education into university sports departments as ESG emerges as a new topic within the sports sector. The necessity of participatory ESG education linked to sports settings and the importance of developing ESG educational content that reflects the characteristics of sports were highlighted. Additionally, it was pointed out that the substantiation of ESG education requires policy support at the university level, such as the development of specialized ESG faculty and the systematization of courses. Based on these findings, the study proposes the following strategies to enhance sports ESG education in universities: First, closely monitor and integrate the ESG trends and demands of the sports field into the education. Second, build consensus among university members on the necessity and importance of sports ESG education, and design curricula that encourage active learner participation, linking school and field. Third, develop customized educational content optimized for ESG education in the sports sector. The findings of this research illuminate the current status of ESG education in Korean universities and present development strategies for its activation. They also provide useful insights for developing ESG curricula and innovating teaching and learning methods in university sports departments. Furthermore, the results can serve as foundational data for establishing policies to support the activation of ESG education in sports-related university departments.
