자동차산업의 도급구조와 임금격차: 규모간, 직종간 격차의 종합적 이해를 위하여

Using the automobile industry, which has a developed subcontracting structure, as the research object, this paper estimated the recent situations of the wage difference between establishment sizes, which has been a problem for a long time. In addition, in order to consider the impact of the recent transition to electric and autonomous vehicles and informatization and automation, which have already advanced significantly, a discussion was held on the wage gap by occupation. As a result of conducting a regression analysis on the 2008, 2013, 2018, and 2023 year data from the Ministry of Employment and Labor's basic statistical survey on wage structure, the net wage gap according to business size shows a tendency to maintain or slightly decrease while taking into account all other factors such as human capital variables. In comparison, wages are rising mainly in management staff, ICT and mechanical engineers, while the net wages of simple job occupation workers are decreasing relatively while their employment is increasing in medium-sized and smaller businesses. Additionally, this widening gap between occupations occurred simultaneously with changes in the age-wage profile. These results mean that the impact of technology is growing while gaps are being structured and solidified in the subcontracting structure and transaction practices with finished automakers at the top.
