중소기업의 ESG경영 도입 현황과 지속가능성 제고 방안

[Purpose] This study aims to examine domestic and international trends related to ESG, assess the current state of ESG management among SMEs in South Korea, and identify current ESG issues faced by SMEs. Based on these findings, the study proposed strategies for effectively adopting ESG management in SMEs. [Methodology] The current status of domestic SMEs was analyzed by exploring ESG－related domestic and international trends and identifying the ESG management level of domestic SMEs and ESG awareness and response levels of domestic exporters. [Findings] ESG is essential for addressing climate change and ensuring sustainability, serving as a critical factor in enhancing the long－term value and competitiveness of companies. However, SMEs face significant challenges in adopting ESG practices due to resource constraints, lack of expertise, and high costs. To overcome these obstacles, support from both the government and private sector is necessary. This study suggests expanding access to information, providing tailored financial assistance, and offering professional consulting services to help SMEs establish robust ESG management practices. [Implications] This study underscores the need for practical support in ESG management for SMEs, emphasizing its potential to create new business opportunities. This provides valuable insights for policymakers and highlights how ESG management can enhance SMEs international competitiveness, enabling market expansion and fostering growth.
