산학협력 활동이 IP 성과에 미치는 영향 - 참여 컨설턴트 및 PM 역량의 매개효과 -

The Fourth Industrial Revolution and the COVID-19 pandemic have heightened technological uncertainty, visibly transforming the research ecosystem of public research institutions. Despite increasing human and financial resources allocated toward technology commercialization within universities and public research institutes, issues such as the small scale of dedicated technology transfer organizations (TLOs) and the lack of expertise among relevant personnel continue to be obstacles to effective commercialization. Amidst growing interest in IP consulting provided by private TLOs to promote technology transfer, there is a need to analyze the impact of university-industry cooperation on IP outcomes and the mediating effect of IP consulting within this relationship to derive successful strategies for IP stakeholders. This study conducted an empirical analysis involving 259 researchers who had received IP consulting services, examining both the direct impact of university-industry collaboration on IP outcomes and the mediating effects of consultant expertise and project management (PM) capabilities. The results revealed that, first, university-industry collaboration is a positive factor in promoting IP outcomes. Second, consultant expertise and PM capabilities mediated the relationship between university-industry collaboration and IP outcomes. In particular, IP outcomes improved when consultant expertise enhanced PM capabilities, underscoring the need for continuous support in developing consultant expertise and PM capabilities, including teamwork skills. To strengthen IP consulting capabilities, it is essential to develop IP consulting methodologies, organizational expertise, and client communication skills, and to provide tailored IP consulting support at each R&D stage.
