대학졸업자의 전공과 숙련형성: 전공-노동시장 이행행렬 분석

본 연구는 일반 4년제 대학졸업자들의 전공별 노동시장 이행을 살펴보고, 전공의 숙련 특성과 노동시장 이행성과 간의 관계를 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 특수적숙련의 지표로 전공별 Duncan 지수와 Herfindahl-Hirschman 지수를 추정하고 추가로 이행 거리 지표를 제안하고 효과를 살펴보았다. 분석 결과, 직업 특수적 숙련은 전공 불일치를 경험하게 될 가능성을 낮추었다. 그러나 산업 특수적 숙련의 경우는 두 지수 간의 효과가 다르게 나타났다. 임금효과는 두 지수 모두 전공의 직업 특수성이 높을수록 임금이 증가하는 것으로 나타났지만 산업 특수성이 높을수록 오히려 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 직업 이행 거리와 산업 이행 거리는 두 가지 모두 거리가 길어질수록 임금을 감소시키는 효과가 있었다. 두 지수 모두 모형의 설명력은 같았고 효과의 방향도 일치하여 결론적으로 두지수 모두 교육-노동시장 이행을 설명하는 데 동일한 적절성을 갖는다고 할 수있었다. 직업적 숙련과 산업적 숙련 중에서는 직업적 숙련의 설명력이 높다고 할수 있었다.
Abstract
This study examines the labor market transitons of graduates from general four-year universites acording to their fields of study, analyzing the relationship betwen skil specifcity of majors and labor market outcomes. To do so, the Duncan Index and the Herfindahl-Hirschman Index were estimated as indicators of ocupation-specifc skils by major, with an aditonal proposed metric to measure transiton distance and examine its efects. The analysis found that ocupation-specifc skils reduced the likelihod of experiencing a mismatch in field of study. However, the efect of industry-specifc skils varied betwen the two indices. In terms of wage efects, both indices showed that higher ocupation-specifcity within a major corelated with increased wages, while higher industry-specifcity was asociated with decreased wages. Both ocupation and industry transiton distances showed a wage-decreasing efect as the distance increased. Both indices had equal explanatory power within the model, and their efects aligned in direction, sugesting that both indices are equaly suitable for explaining the transiton from education to the labor market. Among ocupation-specifc and industry-specifc skils, ocupation-specifc skils demonstrated higher explanatory power. Aditonal explanations were required to clarify why high industry-specifc skils could lead to decreased wages.
