초록
Purpose - This study aims to analyze the impact of digital transformation (DT) on the sustainability and structural transition of Korea's fisheries industry, while proposing policy alternatives to enhance international competitiveness. Design/methodology/approach - The research applies a comparative analysis of global best practices, including the EU, Norway, Denmark, and Japan, and evaluates Korea’s current digital transformation status through the STEEP framework (Social, Technology, Economy, Environment, Political). This includes identifying structural challenges and deriving actionable insights for policy and technological advancements in the fisheries sector. Findings - Global cases demonstrate that data-driven management, technological integration, and alignment of digital transformation with green initiatives significantly enhance fisheries sustainability and productivity. In Korea, while digital transformation efforts are at an early stage, issues such as aging workforce, high initial costs, and limited data integration remain key challenges. The study identifies the need for tailored policy designs, increased acceptance of digital technologies among stakeholders, and international collaboration to address these gaps. Research implications or Originality - This study contributes to the policy discourse on digital transformation in fisheries by emphasizing data-driven management, education, and international cooperation as pivotal strategies for achieving sustainability and innovation. The findings provide a framework for integrating global trends into Korea’s fisheries sector, ensuring long-term growth and global competitiveness.
