우리나라 기업의 입지 이전 선택요인에 관한 연구 - 상장기업과 외부감사 대상기업을 중심으로 -

초록
어떠한 특정 지역에 기업 입지가 집중된다면 그것은 그 지역의 특성이 기업을 성장시키고, 이윤극대화를 도모하고 있다고 할 수 있다. 기업 성장과 이윤 확대에 영향을 미치는 지역 특성은 시간이 지남에 따라 변할 수 있다. 그리고 이러한 지역 특성의 변화는 결국 기업의 입지 이전을 유발하게 된다. 이에 본 연구는 기업의 중대한 의사결정인 입지 이전 선택에 어떠한 요인이 영향을 미치는지 파악하고자 하였다. 즉, 입지 이전 선택은 어떠한 기업이, 어떠한 요인들에 영향을 받는지, 그리고 이전 입지 결정은 어떠한 지역 특성에 영향을 받는지 파악하였다. 분석 결과, 기업 입지 이전을 선택할 확률이 높은 기업은 젊고, 고용 규모가 증가하는 성장세에 있는 기업인 것으로 나타났다. 또한 기존 입지 지역의 높은 임금이 기업으로 하여금 입지 이전을 유발하는 요인으로 작용하는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 입지 이전을 결정한 기업이 이전 지역을 선택함에 있어서는 기업 밀집도가 낮고, 세금 부담이 적은 지역을 선호하고, 인구가 증가하는 지역, 공공기관이 많은 지역 그리고 산업단지 면적이 넓은 지역으로의 이전을 선호하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 우리나라 지자체들의 산업 기반 강화를 도모할 수 있는 기업 특성이 반영된 실효성 있는 기업 유치 정책 수립에 기초자료를 제공하고 있음에 의미를 찾을 수 있겠다.
Abstract
When company locations are concentrated in a specific region, it suggests that the region's characteristics foster company growth and facilitate profit maximization. However, these regional characteristics influencing company growth and profitability can change over time, eventually prompting companies to relocate. This study aims to identify the key factors influencing company relocation decisions. Specifically, it examines which types of companies are affected by particular factors and how regional characteristics influence their relocation choices. The analysis reveals that companies with a high likelihood of relocating tend to be young, growing firms with expanding employment scales. Additionally, high wages in the current location serve as a driving force behind relocation. Companies that choose to relocate tend to prefer regions with lower company density, lower tax burdens, growing populations, a high presence of public institutions, and large industrial parks. This study is meaningful as it provides essential data for developing effective corporate attraction policies that account for business characteristics and help strengthen the industrial base of local governments in Korea
