중소기업 ESG의 사회영역(S)이 경영성과에 미치는 영향 : 안전보건경영시스템의 매개효과를 중심으로

본 연구는 중소기업 ESG의 사회영역이 경영성과에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 분석하고, 이 과정에서 안전보건경영시스템이 매개 역할을 수행하는지를 검증하였다. 연구 결과, 중소기업 ESG의 사회영역은 비재무적 성과뿐만 아니라 재무적 성과에도 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, ESG의 사회영역이 안전보건경영시스템(ISO 45001)의 도입과 운영을 촉진하는 데 유의미한 영향을 미치며, 이를 통해 조직 내 안전 문화 정착과 재해 예방 효과를 기대할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 더불어, 안전보건경영시스템은 비재무적 성과뿐만 아니라 재무적 성과에도 유의미한 직접적인 영향을 미쳤다. 이는 안전보건경영시스템이 조직 내 신뢰 구축과 근로 환경 개선을 통해 브랜드 이미지 강화, 직원 만족도 향상 등의 비재무적 성과를 높이는 데 기여할 뿐만 아니라, 기업의 운영 안정성 확보 및 생산성 향상을 통해 재무적 성과 개선에도 긍정적인 영향을 미친다는 점을 의미한다. 그러나, 중소기업 ESG의 사회영역과 경영성과 간의 관계에서 안전보건경영시스템의 매개 효과는 비재무적 성과에서만 유의하게 나타났으며, 재무적 성과에서는 매개 효과가 확인되지 않았다. 이는 안전보건경영시스템이 중소기업 ESG의 사회영역을 통해 형성된 기업의 신뢰도 및 근로 환경 개선이 비재무적 성과를 더욱 강화하는 역할을 수행하지만, 재무적 성과에 대한 영향은 ESG의 사회영역 자체의 직접적인 효과가 더 크게 작용한다는 점을 시사한다. 본 연구는 중소기업 ESG의 사회영역이 기업의 경영성과에 미치는 실질적인 영향을 분석하고, 안전보건경영시스템이 중소기업 ESG의 사회영역이 효과성을 높이는 요소로 작용할 수 있음을 실증적으로 규명하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
Abstract
This study empirically analyzed the impact of the social sector of ESG in small and medium-sized enterprises on management performance and verified whether the occupational health and safety management system played a mediating role in the process. The results of the study showed that the social sector of ESG in small and medium-sized enterprises had a positive impact not only on non-financial performance but also on financial performance. In addition, it was confirmed that the social sector of ESG had a significant impact on promoting the introduction and operation of the occupational health and safety management system (ISO 45001), and that this could be expected to establish a safety culture within the organization and prevent accidents. In addition, the occupational health and safety management system had a significant direct impact not only on non-financial performance but also on financial performance. This means that the occupational health and safety management system not only contributes to enhancing non-financial performance such as strengthening the brand image and improving employee satisfaction through building trust within the organization and improving the work environment, but also has a positive impact on improving financial performance by securing operational stability and improving productivity. However, the mediating effect of the occupational health and safety management system in the relationship between the social sector of ESG in small and medium-sized enterprises and management performance was significant only in non-financial performance, and no mediating effect was confirmed in financial performance. This suggests that although the occupational health and safety management system plays a role in strengthening non-financial performance through the social sector of ESG of small and medium-sized enterprises through the improvement of corporate trust and work environment, the direct effect of the social sector of ESG itself has a greater effect on financial performance. This study is significant in that it analyzed the actual impact of the social sector of ESG of small and medium-sized enterprises on corporate management performance and empirically clarified that the occupational health and safety management system can act as a factor in enhancing the effectiveness of the social sector of ESG of small and medium-sized enterprises.
