정부의 연구개발 지원이 소재·부품·장비 기업에 미치는 영향 연구: PSM·DID·DDD 결합모형 활용

The materials, parts and equipment (MPE) industry represents a pivotal engine of national manufacturing competitiveness, and the government seeks to induce industrial innovation through MPE R&D support programs.This study employs propensity score matching (PSM), difference-in-differences (DiD) and difference-in-difference-in-differences (DDD) methodologies to analyze the impact of these R&D support programs on the economic, technological and social performance of beneficiary firms and to conduct an empirical assessment of the effect of designation as an MPE-specialised company. The results reveal that R&D support programs exerted negative effects on certain economic performance indicators, whilst their impact on technological and social outcomes was negligible. By contrast, the specialized-company designation produced statistically significant improvements in some economic metrics, such as net profit growth rate and return on assets, and in specific technological metrics, including R&D intensity and R&D expenditure growth rate. Neither general nor specialized MPE firms exhibited significant gains in social performance. By simultaneously evaluating both the R&D support programs and the specialized-company designation system, this study distinguishes itself from prior policy research. The findings suggest that policymakers should strengthen the MPE performance management framework and institute institutional refinements to the specialized company designation system, while MPE firms need to adopt a more strategic approach to R&D support policies.
