국제화 시대 헤어미용 종사자의 글로벌 역량이 직무 만족도 및 직업 전문성에 미치는 영향

As the global beauty industry continues to expand, strengthening the international job competencies of hairdressers has become a critical concern. This study aims to assess the current competencies of hair professionals in South Korea in the context of the global beauty market and to empirically examine the impact of overseas career preparedness—specifically English language proficiency and interest in international employment—on job satisfaction and perceived occupational professionalism. Data were collected from 206 employees working in major franchise hair salons through a structured survey. Statistical analyses, including descriptive statistics, reliability testing, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis, were conducted using SPSS. The results indicate that a significant majority (97.1%) of respondents had experience providing services to foreign clients, identifying foreign language skills and cultural adaptability as essential competencies for working abroad. However, the acquisition rate of international certifications remained low, with language exam difficulty and lack of information cited as primary barriers. Furthermore, overseas preparedness—measured through English proficiency and interest in overseas employment—was found to have a statistically significant positive effect on both job satisfaction and perceived professional expertise. In particular, participants with intermediate or higher English proficiency demonstrated notably higher levels in both domains. These findings suggest the need for systematic support in language education, international certification acquisition, and improved access to relevant institutional and informational resources. Such efforts are vital for enhancing the global competitiveness of hairdressing professionals in Korea.
