This study focuses on analyzing the causes and processes of mutual divorce through pre-divorce counseling for couples who have applied for mutual divorce at the court. The research subjects included 40 husbands and 40 wives with minor children from B Court, and the study was conducted over approximately 16 months, from May 2013 to August 2014. The findings reveal that the primary causes of mutual divorce include issues related to violence, infidelity, economic problems, personality differences, gambling, family conflicts, and health issues. These factors significantly impact the couple's relationship and serve as critical elements that facilitate the decision to divorce. Furthermore, the study indicates that the likelihood of mutual divorce increases with higher educational levels, lower marital satisfaction, and higher average monthly income. This highlights the complex interplay of social and economic factors affecting marital relationships. Lastly, the research emphasizes the necessity of premarital education and suggests policy directions that mandate such education for prospective couples. These educational programs could enhance family functionality and improve marital relationships, contributing to the prevention of mutual divorce. Ultimately, this study provides essential foundational data for seeking practical solutions to mutual divorce issues and is expected to contribute to future policy development and social awareness improvement regarding this matter.
