이 연구는 국가식품클러스터에 입주한 가동 식품기업 69개소를 대상으로 자료포락분석(DEA) 기법을 활용하여 기술효율성, 순수기술효율성, 규모효율성을 추정하고, 자원 활용 구조와 생산성과의관계를 실증적으로 분석하였다. 투입 변수로는 종사자 수, 투자액, 공장 규모, 가동 기간을, 산출 변수로는 매출액을 사용하였다. 분석 결과, 평균 기술효율성은 0.286, 순수기술효율성은 0.737, 규모효율성은 0.391로 나타나, 대부분의 기업이 비효율적인 자원 운용 상태에 있으며, 특히 82.6%의 기업이 기술효율성 0.5 미만, 71.0%가 규모효율성 0.5 미만의 낮은 효율성을 보였다. 기술효율성과 면적당･1인당 매출액 간 비교에서는 효율성이 높은 기업일수록 생산성이 우수함을확인하였으며, 이는 기술적 효율성이 실질적 성과와 밀접하게 연관됨을 시사한다. 규모수익 분석에서는 전체의 89.9%가 규모수익 증가(IRS) 상태로 나타나, 설비 확장 및 자원 재투자를 통한 규모의경제 실현 가능성이 높은 것으로 분석되었다.
Abstract
This study analyzes the operational efficiency of 69 active food manufacturing firms located in the National Food Cluster of Korea using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). Technical efficiency, pure technical efficiency, and scale efficiency were estimated to evaluate the firms’ resource utilization and its relationship with productivity. The input variables included number of employees, investment amount, factory size, and years of operation, while sales revenue was used as the output variable. The results indicate that the average technical efficiency was 0.286, pure technical efficiency was 0.737, and scale efficiency was 0.391, suggesting a generally low level of efficiency among firms. Notably, 82.6% of the firms exhibited technical efficiency scores below 0.5, and 71.0% had scale efficiency scores below 0.5. Firms with higher technical efficiency also demonstrated better productivity in terms of sales per unit area and sales per employee, indicating a strong positive relationship between technical efficiency and actual performance. Additionally, 89.9% of the firms were found to operate under increasing returns to scale (IRS), implying significant potential for improving productivity through facility expansion and resource reinvest ment. These findings highlight the importance of enhancing technical efficiency and optimizing production scale for boosting firm-level performance within the cluster.
